Was the Mena and Ben's "Backchannel Incident" Really a Coverup for Secret U.S. Torture Practices in Europe?

Better Bad News went to some effort to put together this whacky little piece.

Was it all a "buzztrap"?

What the heck is a "buzztrap" anyway?

If anything, this piece takes a good swing at blog conferences. In a nice, constructive way. Kind of like the backchannel....

Tish, I'm so far behind on this thing. I just finished watching the so-called incident and then happened on your blog post. Very timely, and amusing ....

The fact that everyone gets their underwear in a tangle when there's talk of civility is pretty funny in itself.

I think the SXSW panel will be a lot of fun ... at least.

Hi Bill! I think we're really going to be in for it...a "damned if we do, damned if we don't" thing. I'm wearing leather, just in case ;-)

You had to be there to experience the irony of it all. Ben - you're the man to give Mena another dose of the Trotts any day of the week.

D...I got the sense of irony from watching a video of it all. Yet, I think alot of what happened was something brewing in the blogosphere for some time now. And some of that has to do with communication styles across genders and across cultural mores. Men and women have different ways of communicating, as much as different cultures have distinctly different understandings of what is/is not civil. That, too, breaks down along academic and non-academic lines as well as social class lines...so there is so much to consider in the whole Mena-Ben thing...and great to have a group like the Better Bad News people give us a Strangelove-esque way of laughing at the whole thing.
